Last Thursday, we celebrated a birthday for one of my friend’s boss.  We each pitched in to buy munchies and food for the party.    My friend also bought a few bottles of champagne to celebrate this special occasion.  We arranged everything by his office so that when he showed up, he would be surprised.  

Well, the surprise was on us!  Later that morning, my friend’s boss calls her to say that he was not going to make it to the office and was not planning on coming in on Friday either.  

Too bad… all that food and champagne couldn’t go to waste!   Monday was a holiday, so we had no other choice but to party without him!  We made a toast, “Here’s to him—Happy Birthday!”

Mmmmm!  Champagne and strawberries…delicious!
